Location: Seoul
This small restaurant is designed to express Korea’s local and traditional culture through a space that complements its reinterpreted Korean cuisine. Rather than relying on existing conventional design elements, the project aims to evoke a unique cultural atmosphere through architectural abstractions: the interplay of light and shadow, spatial continuity, silhouettes, and layered transparency. Upon entering, guests undergo a sensory transition governed by their movement and posture within the space.
While standing, the design emphasizes the presence of structural walls; as guests move through the restaurant, the lighting seems to fluidly follow their path; and finally, as they sit down for their meal and conversation, the focus shifts inward, revealing their own presence alongside their dining companion.
