Handball Stadium Facade
This project involves the exterior remodeling of the aging handball stadium in Olympic Park. The primary architectural objective was to design a highly effective and impactful façade while strictly preserving the existing roof structure. The design focuses on three key integration aspects: contextuality with the surrounding park, the structural expression of the speed inherent in handball, and the contribution to the public realm via a nighttime landscape.
The building envelope is executed through a parametric system utilizing five standardized panel modules. As these modules trace the contours of the elevation, they create calculated, natural openings that regulate interior light and visibility. By day, the articulated texture of the façade shifts with solar angles. By night, integrated architectural lighting moves across the modular surface, transforming the structure into a dynamic visual anchor that enhances the park's nighttime environment.
